About NEC Corporation

Nippon Denki Kabushiki-gaisha, often referred to as NEC Corporation, is a Japanese multinational company that focuses on information technology and electronics. NEC traces its long history to the establishment of Nippon Electric Limited Partnership in 1898. Quickly, NEC grew to become the leader in the Japanese PC industry and it was around this time that they entered the United States market. Leading into the 2000s, NEC continued their expansion with the establishment of new facilities domestically and internationally.

During the 2000s, NEC oversaw the merger of NEC Electronics Corp and Renesas Technology Corp as well as adjusted their operations with joint ventures, partnerships, and the sale of unneeded divisions. Currently, NEC has focused on their telecommunications division and markets once again, moving to establish 5G network businesses in the United States and the United Kingdom during the year of 2020.
